I am running the latest version of Prime95 on WindowsXP.
After 10 hours of Torture, Prime95 resulted with this error: FATAL ERROR: Reading from temp file. This is the first time I have encountered this particular error. I have the PCI settings, set to enhanced in the systems BIOS. I don't think temperature is an issue, I am keeping 46C at full load. I have 1GB of RAM and around 150GB of disk space available for swap(XP managed size). My questions is, to what temp file is this referring? Does Prime95 use a swap file even when set to use 8mb of RAM at a time? I need someone to steer me in the right direction to fix this error, or at least explain in detail. I am no programmer so I do not know how Prime95 functions through the different hardware/software layers of an OS, it would take me years to educate myself on this subject matter. It takes far to much time to try and reproduce these errors, time I do not have. I need help from the experts. I appreciate your time and dedication, keep up the excellent work. |

Every once in a while prime95 writes data to a temp file and reads it back in. It then makes sure that the data it read in is the same as the data written out. This disk write/read failed.
Possible causes are disk full, directory write protected, overclocked IDE bus, or other OS/hardware malfunction. After 10 hours I'd say the CPU and memory are good. |
