I burned some more time on that "2TB" fake that was really a disguised failing 64GB. Installed http://oss.digirati.com.br/f3/ on a Centos 7.9 system (the system with an M2 slot empty and a spinning HD).
F3 was able to write the fake to about 42GB before hitting an error. Once that occurred the device was no longer accessible on CentOS. A Win10 quick-format made it accessible again. Next F3 try, only 2GB. Quick format & retry, 1GB. So I made a quick mechanical modification to the PCB before giving it to a local Best Buy for recycling, hoping to lessen its chances of being diverted from recycling into another round of counterfeiting. Perhaps it should have been between the connector and the large chip. See attached photo. |
