It's nice to see this headline:
New 50 Pound Note Features Alan Turing of Enigma Fame If you haven't seen the Imitation Game, this is a good reminder that you should. Last fiddled with by masser on 2021-03-25 at 16:40 |

Enigma was adequate but the film very obviously does not show BP. |

Turing most certainly shortened the European war by x years ( fill in your own estimate ).
Also by doing so, he may have saved Germany from being turned into a post apocalyptic nuclear wasteland because the primary target of the bombs being built at Los Alamos was Germany, not Japan. It's hard to say if Turing's contribution of exposing the U-boats to precision attacks would have slowed down the Red Army in the East much, but you can bet your boots that if Germany was still holding out at the beginning of August 1945, Berlin would have been turned into a radioactive slag pit. Thus, Turing also shortened the Asian war significantly and may have saved literally millions of lives there if Japan had kept fighting. |

Counting the days to buy a season ticket for Bletchley Park. When we were happy we spent lots of weekends in there. Just 14 mins drive from here!

Even without nukes, Tokyo and Dresden suffered about the same amount of damage as Hiroshima and Nagasaki. |
