I have crossed 300 CPU years. My first exponent took a whole month on a P90.

I should be at 300 years before the day is out.

I attempted a 10,000,000 digit prime about 5 years ago on a P400. It ran for 15 months and was at 99.8% complete when my son ran a program that swallowed up every byte of memory on the computer. It crashed hard and when it came back up it decided it needed to restart the exponent from the beginning. In the meantime I had added a second computer (1.7Ghz) that was processing 10,000,000 digit primes in just over a month. So I scrapped the big test on the P400 and let it go after smaller assignments.

Default It was 5 years ago today...

...I joined GIMPS.

Read about M39 on the newspaper, and downloaded the client to give it a try. It has been good fun ever since, and I am getting very close to 1000 LL years (not all of them showing in the Primenet stats, though, as I have also done many manual tests in the past). I have also found 11 factors through Primenet assignments, and more than 1,000 in LMH.
I have currently reduced the amount of crunching hours, due to the high electricity prices, but am still doing my bit, and I have no plans to stop participating in the search.
I really enjoy this forum, and the feeling of having a common goal with so many people worldwide.
Let´s keep up the good work!

It's been one year since I created my PrimeNet account, and since that time, I've gone from dead last in the Top Producers stats to # 424 today.

I currently have thirteen nodes, nine of them run Prime95 exclusively, and I hope to get close to the top 100 by the end of 2007. Looking to add some quad core systems at some point this year.

Default Woodall prime found

I found my first prime: 1268979*2&1268979-1. It has 382007 digits and places 90th on the list of largest primes.
I've worked on getting a Woodall prime since August with 2 or 3 PCs. First I had written a simple siever myself and after a month I realized that there had been others before me. On the website of Mark Rodenkirch I found out how far the current effort has gone. There I learned which siever to use, which increased my test speed by a factor 50 or so....
I have sieved now up to 2M, that'll keep me busy until 2010. If you want to test your luck at finding a Woodall Prime, drop me a line and I'll send you a sieved range.

Laters, Willem.

I have now been with GIMPS long enough that the very first exponent I ever tested just got double checked...

And, the residues matched!

My personal record for largest LL test ever completed has just been broken again; the new record is over 11.29M digits.

My P90 CPU hrs/day mark has also reached a record high.

... in the top 900 (888 right now) ... aiming for top 500 in a couple years so TPR can track me on their cool web-site charts.
