Hey all,
According to my AI sidekick Windows 10 supports 2 processors and 2 TB of RAM. However my search of Newegg or ibuypower fails to find any motherboards housing more than 1 CPU or 128 GB of memory. Any suggestions for a maximize-able motherboard or would you have to wire up one yourself? Would a dual processor Windows 10 double-up the available cores/threads of a single CPU? Thanks for your time and insight. |

Newegg has dual socket motherboards: https://www.newegg.com/p/pl?d=dual+socket+motherboard#
This one allows 1TB of RAM: https://www.newegg.com/supermicro-mb...quicklink=true and this one too: https://www.newegg.com/asus-z11pa-d8...-062-_-Product When using 2 CPU's you want to keep all threads for a single worker on a single CPU. Last fiddled with by Uncwilly on 2020-08-20 at 13:53 |

https://www.ebay.com/itm/HP-Z840-WOR...O/174312836624 (I've had Z600s for years and no power supply failures yet. Z600 doesn't have the power cables for a Radeon VII, but Z820 or up does as I recall.) Lenovo has standard form factor power supplies. So far I've not found 128GB or even 24 or 12 to be too limiting in prime95. Four workers can all tackle P-1 stage 2 with allowed 30GB each at the same time in a 128GB. There seems to be some performance advantage to staggering stage 2 execution on a cpu package though. Last fiddled with by kriesel on 2020-08-20 at 14:13 |

I believe that only the 'pro' or 'entreprise' version of W10 allow this. Familly version only allow 128GB.

When I go to the US site it suggests that I go to the Canadian site which seems quite different. Anywho I am considering a Ryzen 32-Threads@16-cores for now. Thanks for all the replies and helps.

I am planning on getting a non-OEM pro version. there seems to be something strange going on with the Newegg computer builder site. Yesterday it was offering a 16-core Ryzen. Today it was showing a 64-Core Ryzen and now both are gone and the maximum cores are 12. Probably a database update or something.

I have a preference for new items even if they are inferior to something cheaper but used. I am running the risk of spending more money than I can really afford by trusting a computer builder app that might end up being a disaster to put together. A bit of risk makes life more interesting I guess. ![]() BTW When I search for "dual sockets" in the Newegg Computer-Builder site I get: Quote:
Makes it more risky to get without the app's auto compatibility check. ![]() ETA I am planning to get the cheapest GPU I can. The main Prime related software I use are Pari and PFGW which I believe do not have any GPU-calculation capabilities. Last fiddled with by a1call on 2020-08-20 at 23:55 |

So it appears that the PC-Builder at Newegg has "Sort-by", "Featured-items" as default which is why things appear and disappear at times. Sorting by other criteria such as "Best-Rating" or what have you generates a completely different list. You can verify this by sorting by clicking on the Title-Tabs such as "Fan-RPM" for liquid-cooling systems which will have completely different lists for different "Sort-By" pull-downs. Somewhat problematic to use.
