Here in the good ol' USA, a "docent" is a volunteer (read "unpaid") worker in a museum who acts as a tour guide, and possibly as a volunteer educator or "interpreter." There are also "museum educators" who, unlike docents, actually get paid. (The workers who care for a museum's collections and manage exhibitions are called curators.)
