Hi,
I have worked on GIMPS for several years now. My current PC churns out good results in LL/PRP. Main processor is the work horse, an i7-3770K, water-cooled, running overclocked at 4.2GHz. Graphics is 2 x AMD 7970 series cards - which crash my comp in 15 minutes, hence no use for GIMPS. It appears that 100M mersenne's are so far away. My first question is when do we stop? It appears that GIMPS will never stop or reach fulfillment. My second question is, what has been done to ensure all this work is saved forever? |

On an individual basis, we'll stop when we run out of interest, finances and hardware to continue, mental faculty to keep the tests going and reporting in, or days of life span. Never and forever are very long times. We're open to suggestions how to preserve data that long.
