We haven't had a vote chess game in a while, so I'm wondering if there's some interest in having another one. But instead of playing against another version of Stockfish, you'll be playing against LCZero, an engine which was trained from scratch and didn't even exist when the last forum vs. Stockfish game ended.
Leela will be using net 42850, which was created on July 26, 2019 and is one of the strongest nets created since the start of the Leela project. It's a 20 block, 256 filter net and is considered by many to be slightly stronger than Stockfish 10 and other recent stockfish development versions (Stockfish appears to be a bit stronger than Leela when playing against weaker opponents, but Leela seems to have a slight edge against Stockfish in head-to-head matches. After all, nets are used to catch fish )The format of these games will be similar to last time. But instead of a 3 day discussion period followed by a 3 day voting period, the voting thread will be posted on Saturday, and the discussion thread will be posted on Wednesday to simplify things. As before, Leela's moves will be posted within 24 hours of the end of each voting period. I'm open to changes on this, but I'm thinking that the forum should have no engine assistance against Leela when playing as White (like the previous time). However, engine assistance will be allowed when playing as Black. Leela will not have an opening book in either game. For reference, all of the previous forum vs. Stockfish games ended in draws - Game 1: Duration: October 2015 - May 2016 White: Forum with no engine assistance Black: Stockfish 6 Moves: 1.e4 e6 2. d4 d5 3.
