I note the words "Yang-Mills equations" on the chalkboard behind her in the pic - my UMich diff-geom professor, the late "smokin' Joel" Smoller was also working in this area, and the textbook he chose for the course (which was under the permanent placeholder title of "advanced topics in partial differential equations", with precise material reflecting the research interests of the faculty member who happened to be teaching it in a particular semester) was by a trio of Russians, Dubrovin (the editor, he seemed to feels he deserved first-authorship based on that), Fomenko and Novikov, the latter 2 well-known names in mathematical physics and relativity. Anyhow, well-deserved recognition here!
