As a test I am booting my two dual computers (800x2, 667x2) off of a Knoppix CD and then mounting a remote share on my laptop via NFS... (The dually boxes don't have hard drives yet.)
Mprime starts up within 2 seconds and so far it works perfectly... Setting up the NFS server was as simple as editing /etc/exports, opening a few ports and starting the NFS server... On the client end it was even easier... All I had to do was mount the share and it was there... mount ip:/path/to/share /mnt/mprime There were a few issues with permissions but I have that all sorted now... The kicker is that my laptop is wireless, so it is much slower than a 100mbit network... |
