Goddamn am I glad I didn't try to pick up a math major. I count 5 questions that I even remotely understand. Of which I can probably only solve 1 or 2 and maybe a 3rd if I was allowed to use the internet.

-------

Oh and I vote to keep the thread open. Soooo much entertainment value here!

omg I clicked on it and instantly sees measure theory/nonmeasurable sets.

what if it is prime? then do my name go down in history and me become famous?

Well, we have already checked all of the numbers you are suggesting by trying to divide them by not every prime up to a billion, but by every prime that might work up to at least 75012345678901234567890. Did you know that Mersenne numbers can only divided by numbers of a special form? (2kp+1, where p is the exponent in question) Maybe your math class hasn't touched on that. The smallest of the exponents that you are suggesting is prime is 26695478 digits long. The square root would have about half that many digits, 13347739. Your factoring up to a billion still leaves 13347730 digits. Our factoring leaves 13347716 digits unexplored. So, the chances are it is still composite.
doesn't everytime you multiply 2 itself like 10 times it adds two digits, so 2^88xxxxxx should only be like log(88xxxxx) base 2 only like 26 digits so shouldn't up to a billion which is 9 digits be more than enough. okay maybe i can do up to a trillion but that would take my computer probably a millenium to do that

You don't know what a PhD is? Are you familiar with the term Dr?
yes wikipedia says it's doctor of philsophy, it's not a math degree.

this is not even math, it is statistics we dont deal with measurements that's physics

It is a type of factoring that you have yet to learn. I suspect that you don't know about ECM, or SIQS, or GNFS, or SNFS.
i know none of these abbreivations

That is like the quote that is falsely attributed to Lord Kelvin: "There is nothing new to be discovered in physics now. All that remains is more and more precise measurement."

George (Prime95), the one who wrote mprime (which uses IBDWT, have you ever heard of that in your math classes?) has some seriously powerful machines and is making a generous off, if you are willing to accept it.
like does he run a big supercomputer or something that is awesome! i wish i have one

Seriously read up on things some more before you, suggest that we are clueless to your brilliance. (I gave you several things that you should learn about.) Over the many years that this forum has existed we have seen many people think that they have made a breakthrough that has escaped many experts that have been studying in the field for decade upon decade.
okay well maybe youre right maybe my code is flawed, or highly flawed as you peple like to bring me down - mistakes happen, but unlikely ive had extensively experience coming up with sequences that work perfectly

In the terminal navigated to where mprime is installed run chmod u+x mprime and then ./mprime -m. HTH

Yup. All the girls will want you. You'll become extremely wealthy. The journalists will hound you for attention. You can simply ask for anything you want and it will be given. Life will be carefree, fun and easy. But the worst part is that you will have to be patient and wait for the results to come in. So until then, hold on tight and prepare for the best of times ahead.

it says chmod: changing permissions of ‘mprime’: Read-only file system

Where did you install mprime? Directory and device?

If you are using Linux to communicate with us, download mprime to "Downloads" (or whatever the default is). From there, unzip it to a directory in your home directory, which is probably under /home/samuel or similar. Then follow my above instructions.

Measure Theory is part of calculus. I guess you haven't finished learning calculus yet, hrmph. Would've thought someone of your purported intellect would have worked ahead in class, especially with the AP test coming up so soon.

On your application essay to Harvard, you ought to tell them why their own math exams aren't math. Teenagers do know everything, after all.

I have no clue about any of the questions from the Harvard qualifying exam; for what level of prospective student is this exam designed?
