Maybe the server should automatically reject all results with TF above 2^90. Or some bit level that is computed from the exponent and is clearly beyond the kit available today.

Or obviously composite exponents for which there's no need to run TF at all, or to claimed TF levels far above what the indicated software is capable of, or to TF levels above what the indicated kernel is capable of. Or to TF above about 87 bits at the highest exponent in the mersenne.org range, for which gputo72 target is 86. https://www.mersenne.ca/exponent/999999937
123 456789 = 32 × 3607 × 3803
Or from TF levels below ~64.

Or, as uncwilly points out, difference between from and to TF levels that is wider than the software supports.

Or those that start with 2^1? Or 2^10 for that matter. Currently no one should be turning in a range of greater than 10. 5 is even a stretch.

I don't know if this is related, but overnight someone anonymously reserved every single available P-1 assignment from 90M up to ~104M, starving out legitimate workers of relevant assignments....

Makes sense. Even the fastest GPU would take about a month to TF the largest (fastest) exponent on GIMPS 89 to 90. 125,000 GDs

Over 64,000,000 GDs from 99 t0 100. 44 years for my 2080ti

I can't say for sure if "THE" anonymous is "-anonymous-" or "ANONYMOUS". I tend to believe it is the former since there is only 1 of those way up in the standings and many, many of the latter lower down.

There have been several times in the past that -anonymous- assigned huge ranges of work often with no work done until they expired months later.

I suggest there needs to be limits or rules regarding huge assignment ranges when either they impede important milestones or when they are held without progress.

The former; someone who didn't even bother to log into Primenet, and yet was able to reserve something like 233,000 (!) P-1 assignments starting from the P-1 wavefront. This was either a *really* badly programmed spider, or a sustained malicious action...

Six months later, if action isn't taken...

Seconded.

In fact, I've argued in the past assignments shouldn't be given to anyone who doesn't even bother to log into Primenet.

I never log in. I only take anonymous assignments now. And I see a lot of assignments done by other anonymous people. Are you suggesting all those people should be shut out?

No one is suggesting that anonymous users be shut out.

Could you help us understand why someone would choose to make anonymous contributions to the project?

We have all kinds of things, and these are being caught during the submission and rejected (thus the nasty things he's been putting in the results lately, like the FU)

Thanks to this doofus, we've actually implemented a number of features to filter out crud. We did have some filters previously but this dude was really pushing the boundaries, so... here we are.

I got tired of chasing credits for the sake of credits. I want find primes and factors and whatnot, not chase credits.
