Hi, I've recently bought a
MSI Z370 PC Pro motherboard and an i3-8350K. I've been looking on the MSI site https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/supp...#support-mem-6 for some memory but I can't find any of it. Ideally, I'd like to be sure that the memory I buy with work with my parts. Can I be helped to choose some DDR4? |

There is some element of luck when it comes to higher speed ram compatibility. Up to around 2666 should be no problem in general.
If you buy more recently released modules, you're likely safe to 3200. Corsair Vengeance, G.Skill Trident Z, there are quite a lot of models in the range. I have 8350k and currently run it stock clock with 2x TridentZ 3000 C14. It's an older kit, but this one is Samsung B-die. |

I know, given what's been said it looks like a stupid question but I wanted to ask because I'm worried.

Looks like that particular kit was released in Skylake era, and I hear there were some timing optimisations for Coffee Lake. Don't know how that would impact it. I just don't know it will work 100%. Worst case, you might need to run it a speed setting or two down, which can be frustrating if you paid for the higher speed.
Can you identify modules you like specifically claiming they were designed for 300 chipset? That would give best chance of no problems. |

Hi Mackerel,
I've bought the one I posted a link to. The other ones are a bit above my price range. Thanks for the help. I'll post again here to let it be known how I'm getting on, when I get the system up and running. |

Ok, will be interested to hear how you get on. Those were popular kits a few years ago so I'm optimistic, but just can't be certain.

Hi,
I've assembled the PC. Everythings working but the memory is set at 2133MHz in the bios. It's 3200 memory. Also, with ubuntu 18.04 I can't connect to the internet with or without a PCI network adapter. Last fiddled with by wildrabbitt on 2019-01-19 at 16:38 |
