Wink Intel kills off the 10nm process (well, not really)

At least that's what the rumours say: https://semiaccurate.com/2018/10/22/...-10nm-process/

Accidentally posted this in the wrong forum. It was supposed to be in Hardware.

intel has denied it: https://mobile.twitter.com/intelnews...97715071651841

Media reports published today that Intel is ending work on the 10nm process are untrue. We are making good progress on 10nm. Yields are improving consistent with the timeline we shared during our last earnings report

I haven't seen the earnings report, the timeline they are referencing may or may not debunk the rumour. There's every chance they're talking in technicalities to buy themselves some time. Not ending work on the 10nm process does not mean they aren't salvaging what they can from 10nm to use on a different process. Worth watching.

It is likely the 10nm they're working on now is different from their original plans.

Pretty sure they confirmed months ago that they scrapped a certain amount of work to work on a less ambitious 10nm design.
