If you can afford highly paid Linux experts on your team to configure it perfectly for the desired application, then sure. But Linux out-of-the-box isn't optimal on NUMA stuff IME. My solution is to just buy more RAM and disable the swap file completely. Still isn't perfect but it's a bit better. If a program runs out of RAM then it gets killed and tagged for runs on a larger machine, or rewritten to be more RAM friendly.
