Cool! Discovering an interesting star is a bigger deal than you're making it out to be :)

I'm guessing you don't have quite enough light even from the half-metre aperture to be able to measure radial velocities, and I'm not sure that amateur spectrographs have yet reached the point where they can be sensibly remotely operated.

Perhaps. When something approaching a million have already been recorded over the last 300 years and GAIA is expected to find tens of millions more, I find it hard to get too excited.

Amateur spectrographs on half-metre class telescopes can make RV measurements to about 100m/s down to mag 12 or lower. Whether they can be operated remotely is beyond my present pay grade.

The main problem of finding out whether RV measurements can be made is that neither my nor Kevin's telescope has the required ~15K EUR/GBP/USD equipment installed.
