LaurV deleted my earlier post about this exponent, so I thought the results of the additional TF bits were not necessary for the project of this thread. Team Inspector ≠ Team, so x/10 ≠ x where x can be a prime number or a range. Last fiddled with by tuckerkao on 2021-07-28 at 23:10 |

Please, tuckerkao, report all of your work. Not just that which might get you "credit" in some artificial economy. If any "no factor found" work is not submitted it simply means that /someone/ in the future is going to expend unneeded and unrewarded effort. That effort will be done. With all the Carbon that might (or might not) involve. With all due respect tuckerkao et al... If you're going to play with us, please play well with others. Having tested Mersenne numbers with known factors to verify your computer there was indeed no reason to send those KNOWN results to the server. But you could have said that in a clearer way than you did ;-) Jacob |

Normally I would ignore a post like that, or take it as a joke (and I have to admit that it was a "cute" joke, with the double-double") but mr white tuxedo has a history of trolling here so I am more inclined to be strict with his posts. Quote:

Hey all. So, it looks like we're going to be getting some additional firepower from SR Base. Yay!
They're going to start in the 2xM range, taking it up to 73 "bits". So... Could someone(s) please tell me what ranges are being worked there currently by others directly through Primenet, so we can "avoid toes"? Thanks. |

James H could probably pull up a report, but there appears to be a lot of TF activity every which way in that range. Not necessarily all of the folks might be (frequent) forumites.

mikr: 24.0. Taking it to 71 bits; about half done. Then he'll move to 24.1 ... 24.9; 7-10 days per range. me: 20.9. Taking it to 71 bits with my 980 me: 25.6. Taking it to 73 bits with my 2080 If there are any others it will be very new or very sporadic. I'll gladly move out of the way. Can you set my GPUs to TF 35.3 to 75 bits until he finishes then 34.4 Last fiddled with by petrw1 on 2021-07-30 at 17:39 |

Depending on how things go, we can bring in lower ranges over time. Cool... Thanks rebirther. Let's see what your swarm can do! |

There's a mister Delgado doing P-1 with B1=1M, B2=66M in 11.1M range. He/You already found a factor. His/Your progress is extremely slow, and you are stepping on my toes. The B1/B2 you use are very low, not enough to find the needed number of factors in the range, B1 has to be at least 6-7 times higher, and B2 at least 3-4 times higher. That range is reserved by me, and I will reach it in about 7-10 days. Because your limits are so low I will have to redo anyhow the work you did, to get them factored to proper limits, and as I do not have your saved checkpoints files, the work will be doubled (i.e. I will do it from scratch).
Now, if you want to collect some low-hanging fruits (and rob me of few factors), be my guest, but what you are doing is not kosher. For me, the amount of work will be the same, but I will find few less factors (well, technically, the amount of work I will do will be insignificantly less, as I won't redo the work for the exponents you already cleared by finding a factor). So, my advice, if you read this, either do the assignments to proper bounds (and I will avoid them, as I generate my worktodo files periodically from the factoring limits report, in that case your help is sincerely welcomed) or get the funk out of my coffee cup.
