BTW, if I ever choose to offend you, you will surely recognize it. Offensiveness needs practice and an understanding of your target. |

That was offensive... no, just a bit ironic.

A similarly-constructed exchange is one of my favorites (though it is not in the vein of insult and offensiveness.)

But, then, there's the question of is OMG "using the Lord's name in vain?" Obviously, if you say Jesus Christ, you're using His name, and,"Oh, my Lord," is questionable. But how important is the term "name" when we're talking about this particular sin? If I say,"I hate you," that's pretty bad, but if I say,"I hate you, Jacob," I've potentially increased the consequences of my comment. I've added weight to the sentence. My church friends hate it when I ask these questions, they prefer the broad brush. But I think it's a fair question. |

Okay, total random off-shoot, something I just thought of.
Hard drives and flash drives are both getting cheaper, with flash drives being quite a bit more expensive per gig, but hard drives are significantly slower with their transfers. When do you guys think the last hard drives will be built? |

A few weeks ago, I clicked links one by one and fell down into the Reddit rabbit hole. Eventually, I found this question (which seems to have been deleted) in the "Ask Reddit" subforum: "How do I have sex with a girl, legally and free?" Memorable responses: "You want to have sex with a girl, legally and free? What am I, a genie?" "Pick two. Girl. Legal. Free." "Online dating. The odds are good, but the goods are odd." "You tell me, dude. I've been trying to find the answer to that for the past 40 years." Another memorable incident occurred when Tyson Gay won a sprinting championship. Yahoo printed an article saying "Gay Seizes US 200m Title in Style". Here were the comments: "Is Tyson Gay?" "Top 200m runner in the world is Gay!" "The USA sends Gay to World Championships" "Gay explodes on competition" "Gay Shows Opponents his Backside at US Champs" "After US Track Championships, everyone in the US wants to be Gay." "Gay embraced in Indianapolis" "Gay prefers the view from the front" "This is the comments section hitting rock bottom. Honestly, it's like a whole barrel full of 12 year olds and crack were released onto computers where the only website they could access was this one. Jesus." |

Okay, I need to restore people's faith in my ability to come up with good ideas. Or maybe just look intelligent to people who think I'm an idiot, so...
This is my totally epic idea that I'm not going to patent because I don't have the intelligence to implement it and I'm not a troll. Well, not intentionally a troll in this particular case...Anyway... My idea exists in 2 parts. The first part involves asking people to pay a nominal fee in order to skip past the spam folder when they send you email. If you're not in a person's approved email list, they'll be able to set a fee, and if they pay that fee, they skip your spam folder. If they're already in the approved list, all or part of the fee is refunded, since they didn't need to pay in the first place; or, if you list them as definite spam, they also get a full or partial refund because they didn't get what they paid for. The refunds are automatic and can be manually triggered, if need be. The second part, though slightly less epic, should only be implemented after the first part is, and that's the ability to receive your snail mail in digital form. So, the first time an advertiser sends you mail, you ask them to pay a fee to get past the filter, and if you want more mail from them, like coupons, then you can make it easier on them by putting them in an approved list. So, if someone knows you kinda well and wants to send you something, they can just look you up and send that stuff, since it's now safe to reveal your email address, since you have the pay to email thing implemented. The fee should be something that's not super-high, but also not super-low. I recommend an amount that'd take you a few minutes to earn at your normal job, though you could go higher or lower depending on how famous you are and the type of email you expect. So, a rich uncle that isn't widely known might set a really low amount like a quarter or nickel, hoping that some of his nieces or nephews will try to contact him. On the other hand, someone who's widely known, like a politician, might set things at $10-$20 to deal with the "crazies." Then, they might reassure family members that they'll get a full refund if they fail to add someone to the approved list. Whaddaya think? |
