[negative is bad for black; so the best move found is: e3 ]

Seems like the chess engines agree on e3, but they all have a different sequence of following moves.

Hopefully we will hear Mr. Barnes' thoughts before the poll opens.

Did you mean "before the poll closes"? The poll is already open: http://www.mersenneforum.org/showthread.php?t=22108

Feel free to let me know if you need more time.

My one too, and here is a move I can not really understand, and I would not play for sure, in a real situation. Separating the pawns makes not much sense for me right now. But I played my variants against the engine, and they are all worse, so.... I voted e3.

I won't be able to play honest chess online anymore after these games, haha.... So fast we learn to be spoiled...

My initial thought was Rc2. Although e3 looks interesting it's hard for me to stomach separating the pawns at this point. I'll put some more firepower at it by tomorrow night and will vote in the last few hours later Wednesday.

My feeling is that this is dead drawn no matter what we do. It's likely better to quickly force a draw and get on to something else.

We think this would be interesting:

White makes the first move.
Black then makes two moves.
White then moves twice.
Alternate double moves until game is over.

It sounds like fun, let's try it...
However this is much more than the "crazy chess" I proposed, practically this is a totally new game.

We're down to two moves: Rc2 and e3.
