problem with USB ports in submerged system

Hi,

I've got a computer with submersive cooling (most of the system is submerged

in transformer oil).

I got some joy out it but after not very long the USB ports don't work.
When ubuntu boots a message "unable to enumerate usb port 1".

Same for the other ports.

Can anyone offer a good guess at what might have happened?

Any hint from dmesg? If it has a drive bay, what happens if you boot from a live cd/dvd?

What is dmesg?

The machine boots, It's just that without USB ports I can't use a keyboard or mouse to do anything.
