Disregard my previous. I found the Adobe document containing information about CUDALucas.

The GTX-750 Ti was a bust-out. No matter what I tried, it would not display anything on my monitor. I tried re-inserting it into the slot. I switched display cables from the DVI to VGA. I even reset the system BIOS by moving the jumper on the motherboard.

It was advertised on Amazon as being PCIe, PCIe 2.0, and PCIe 3.0 compliant. The GT-610 I put back in is PCIe 2.0 and it works fine. I feel like I am missing something simple. What that may be, I don't know.

There are many information stashes hereabouts. It can be hard to track down just what you want. You succeeded!

Join the club A while back a 590 which worked fine for fivemack, before and after my attempts, flatly failed to work on my machines. I never found out what was wrong.

I had a 750-Ti in a 1.1 slot for a while on a P5K-VM motherboard. I think 1.1 motherboards can need a bios update to support later versions. I assume that you remembered the 6 pin power lead.

Does your system boot? ( judging by sound & disk activity).
Do you think your op system ( which one is it, BTW ?) starts up?
How big is your power supply?
Did you remember to uninstall your old video driver and revert to a generic one with your 610 in the machine, then put in the 750ti? ( Your old video driver may not recognize the 750ti at all.

PCIE is backwards compatible, unless your motherboard needs a bios update as mentioned above,

Does the motherboard have on board graphics?

If you only want to use the GTX-750 Ti for CUDA you might be able to get the system to use the on board graphics for display output (I had to update BIOS setting on mine to do this) and the GTX-750 Ti for CUDA.

Can you log on to the OS over the network from another system? If you can try running various display commands to see what the OS says about the GTX-750 Ti.

There is no six-pin power lead on this one. However I do see where it would have been. Six solder spots in two rows of three, side by side. on the top corner of the circuit board.

No. There is not enough drive activity for that. The OS is Win 7 Ult (x64).

550W. It is also eight years old. It is possible that it is having issues. The power requirements stated on the box indicates that it needs 20 amps on the +12 volt rail. I have a backup PS with far less hours on it. It's 450W. I am going to do a simple test before I switch the PS. I will disconnect the drives and two fans then power it up.

If all this fails then I may try to find a BIOS update, but I don't hold out much hope for finding one. I plan on replacing this computer in early November with something more recent, but not new. I found an i5 quad-core based system.

I found four AMI BIOS updates for this system. I've downloaded the latest. I've looked at multiple flash utilities and have not been able to find one that works.

My 750ti is exactly like yours. It takes 60W while the 610 takes 30W.

This sounds very bad. I don't think a motherboard bios would fix this.
I would suspect the power supply or a bad video board.
Any chance you can find someone who has a system you could try installing this board?
I'll be interested to hear the results of your tests with lowering the power usage by taking stuff out or using that other power supply.
However, fans only take about 10-12w each and disks don't take that much either; I'm sure LaurV could tell us, but trying this would be worthwhile.

Just noticed that you said you switched from DVI to VGA. My card has dvi and hdmi. Is the VGA on the motherboard? I wouldn't expect that to work with the card in. If you are talking about a dvi to vga converter, there can be issues with them. I would suggest trying hdmi into a tv(if that supports it) if your screen doesn't support hdmi.

I can't find any specific details about how old your system is above. Is it the first gen Core 2(65nm)?
