If a new subforum is inplemented, I'd suggest to make it ARM/RISC architecture related. These could be placed there (or at least some post in them anyway):

I'm running debian linux on the so-pine64. Linux runs fine, albeit a bit slow, but when I try to run mprime it says:cannot execute binary file. George told me mprime only runs on Intel-compatible CPUs. I should have known this but it was still fun for $19.

If there's anything you wan me to try, let me know.

I should have an mlucas binary that works. IIRC, the software support for the SO-PINE isn't done yet--I'm on the IRC chat that the developers of linux-sunxi use--so I've been following the status. PM me an email address and I'll tar up a copy of it and send it to you to test.

I got mlucas working. it will take me a bit to figure out though. Th entire computer seems to draw about 5 watts under full load, 1.4 watts idle. Advice to anyone buying this board, get the 2 GB version so you can dimension larger arrays and test bigger numbers. I'm somewhat held back with 1 GB.

A peaceful day for you,

is it possible to make a filesystem btrfs https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Btrfs for the rasperrypi by using 4 usb-sticks together.

I thought it might be a good exercise in order to have some experience in installing it later on a server with 4 or 6 sata-disks.

I only wanted to use the btrfs for an extended disk and not for the root-disk,
which should be easier to install.

Any benchmark availible, how fast or slow the btrfs is on a rasperrypi ?

Have a lot of fun with your pet
Bernhard

btrfs RAID 5/6 is severely broken right now. RAID1 works as long as there are at least two devices available (3 -> 2 fine, 2 -> 1 permanent read-only).
