Default projectile and ramp

Hi Math People,

This problem is that there is a rock thrown up a hill. The hill has constant slope and is like a ramp. The question is simple. Given an initial velocity, what angle should the rock be thrown to maximize distance?

The answer is theta is 45 degrees plus phi/2. So for example if the ramp angle phi is 0 then throw at theta is 45. Also if phi is 10 degrees then theta is 50.

Regards,
Matt

Hi Math People,

Okay my spelling is less than perfect. The word I was going for is trigonometric. I'm glad some people saw my result.

Regards,
Matt

Well, we would not be so upset about spelling, what would upset us most is throwing up rocks... or... was it "throwing up a hill"? How do we throw the hill up?

(@ Retina, if your post was directed at us, we went directly to the answer sheet, because we did not understand how to throw up rocks... )
(real reason: we solved this problem some time ago, and we knew the answer, even if we could not remember the right values)

We heard about this symptom in dogs, they eat rocks for some reason and later throw them up, but never on a hill, usually they do it on a hole...
