Noisy fan

I just started the prime search on a Dell desktop. I recently upgraded to Windows 10 and got a new power supply. As soon as the Prime Search starts the fan gets louder. Is this normal? Could it harm my PC?

It is normal for the fan to work harder when running Prime95. It makes the CPU work harder, which requires more effort cooling. Is the fan really noisy or just louder but sounding normal? (More like a cat purring very loud vs. the sound of a blender).
