The poll for move 23 just closed, and the most popular move was Rxd5. Stockfish responded with 23...Rxf4, and the FEN is:

24. g3 to drive away the rook and allow us to play 25. Rd6 or Rd7, which will allow us to attack multiple pawns and eventually recover our pawn with a good drawing position.

Hi, I am new here in the chess corner. Maybe you permit me to join now and then
![]() I think that 24. g3 would be followed by 24. ... Rc4, which helps black to defend its pawns and attacks our own c-pawn. An alternative to g3 might be 24. Rb1 Na4/Nc4 25. Rd1 Now black is forced to move the h-pawn to avoid checkmate on d8. So 25. ... h5 26. Nh6+ Kg7/Kh7 27. Rxh5 The problem then is that we need to keep up the pressure, otherwise it will be easy for black to attack us with two rooks. I don't know if that'll work out. E.g. if black plays 27. ... Kg6 then we'ld have to move up the second rook to protect the other 2 figures... So that's just an idea which looks interesting for me, but maybe it's not such a good one

As usual many things can happen.
Best think of my contribution being the option 24. Rb1 and analyze the rest

24. Rb1 Nc4 looks strong to avoid some stuff but can be countered with
25. Rb4 EDIT: Then we can get 25. ... Ne3 26. Rb4xf4 Ne3xd5 27. Rd4 ? Hm, still difficult... Last fiddled with by Till on 2016-03-03 at 17:23 Reason: EDIT |
