Has anyone else seen this problem? I upgraded to kernel 2.6.2 on Redhat 8 and cannot get my cd drive to recognize the disks. I checked lsmod and the ide-cd module is loaded, but inserting a disk in the drive does not mount it. When going to disk management in system tools, the only device listed is the floppy drive. Any help?

If you type (as root) cdrecord -scanbus does that show anything? I assume that you've booted from your old kernel to check that the drive is still OK? (In fact - since you must have fixed it by now - what was the answer?) Last fiddled with by Pablo the Duck on 2004-04-15 at 06:27 Reason: Just noticed the date of original post |

cdrecord --dev=/dev/hdc -scanbus
Make sure you don't have "hdc=ide-scsi" on your kernel boot line... |

scsi emulation is supposively fast than atapi. I built my kernel built scsi emulation and atapi support as modules so I can use it eithier way. here is a good guide to getting a cdr working with atapi http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.p...ight=cdr+atapi
