Default mfaktc on Linux and misfit on Windows

I am running mfaktc on Linux and misfit on Windows.
The Linux box has a samba share that misfit
uses to read / write worktodo.txt and results.txt .

I saw some odd stuff in the results.txt file.
Some results are all on one line (viewed using notepad)
instead a line for each result.

So I started wondering about the different line
ending conventions on Windows (CR LF) and
Linux (LF).

Do both
1. mfaktc on Linux handle Windows line endings?
2. misfit on Windows handle Linux line endings?

Or is this configuration not recommended?

Thanks for the great software

I haven't heard of anyone doing it that way before. If you prefer a Linux-native solution, checkout mfloop.py from here.

The configuration is OK. Both Windows and Linux can handle both types of line endings. The problem is that your Notepad can not do. You can use other text editor (for example I use pn2, which has almost all features of eclipse, and more other, and it is open source, it is faster, and less than a tenth in size). With pn2 you can replace the line endings to any format you like, with a single click, but you don't need to do that, except for viewing it nice with the text editor. The programs should work without any intervention.

For your peace of mind, use windows CRLF, which will be seen in Linux as an empty line in between, and mfaktc ignores the empty lines. Or, if it is working as you have it already, don't fix it.

You can also use Linux fetching tools (one already mentioned above), but none of them beats Misfit (my opinion).

If viewing on Win, try wordpad instead of notepad. I used to open imported-from-linux files in wordpad, save instantly without changing any text, and then notepad would recognise the returns.
Generally, wordpad > notepad.
