Uh.....those files start with "p" in my instance. I don't have any "m" files.

Oh crap, you are right. I was thinking of mfaktc, not Prime95.

That depends on the range and worktype, see here. You can have many different letters. There are some more accurate explanation on the forum how the file name is constructed exactly. The idea was to encode the 8-digit exponent and the work type in a 8-dot-3 pattern file name used for old systems (pre-long-file-names, like DOS, etc.).
