The Cantina Bar scene features Rihanna (admittedly, already enough of an alien that no additional make-up nor prosthetics were required...).

Copy/paste from our other post in the wrong thread. No spoiler in that post, safe to read.

The feral teenagers® in house dragged us to the cinema, where we spent $n$ minutes watching the movie and the endless advertising Thai cinema still show before the movies start (to their merit, they do not interrupt the movie with advertising, but show ~25 minutes of it before the movie starts, from which advertising, 80% is Thai language, even if we paid - more - for an original English soundtrack, they didn't bother to show English advertising - well, their loss! because most farangs in the hall didn't understand the advertising).

We wasted $n-2$ minutes from our life and we want back the money. The $2$ minutes which worth the money was the entry of C3PO. That was wonderful and we totally didn't expect it - it took us by surprise.

Spoilers below, nerds stop reading here!

Our feeling after seeing the movie was that the producer made the movie only to give Mr. Harrison Ford a honorable exit. I mean, c'mon, how could Han Solo die? Of old age, abandoned on some paradise island/planet? Not his style! Shot by his smuggler friends, or in a sky fight? Not cool, and not memorable. Only that the realization of the scene was extremely stupid and dry. No drama. No wet eyes. No fight back. Han Solo the fighter full of resignation. Blearh!

Beside of stealing the idea of a nice poor hungry girl fighting for the right, from the Hunger Games movies (remark: I said movies, not the book. The HG book is still one of the best ever written, but the movies were crap).

The original Kirk and Spock were just as good a team
as Picard plus Data plus Ryker plus Troi.

But if you add in "and the rest" and allow for the fact that
the Nexts owed their existence to the Firsts,
then the sequel improved on the original.

Not so much in the sequels to SW.

So I heard the latest dreck-installment made over $200 million over the weekend - I wonder if that at least covers the advertising budget?

I considered buying a DVD of the first 2 releases - the only ones I found worthwhile - for the twin nephews, but check this out:

http://www.amazon.com/s?ie=UTF8&page...r%20wars%20dvd

The prices for any of these are ridiculous - no reason a basic dvd of the original one should go for more than $10-15. Must be the Xmas/new-release-tie-in buying frenzy.

BTW, if you want to have some wayback fun which shows George Lucas was a commercialization whore from the very beginning, check out

[1] The Wikipedia page on the 1967 film version of Dr. Dolittle and the epic-fail toy-marketing-tie-in campaign for that, and how Lucas took advantage of the aftermath of that to secure marketing rights on the cheap;

[2] The sordid history of a little turd called The Star Wars Holiday Special.

I'd actually be willing to pay or trade for a DVD burned from a filesharing site - anybody who finds it in the torrent-foo-niverse and willing to burn a disc, PM me and we can haggle.

I agree, in a broad sense, about Trump.

On the first sentence I can only say that there are hairless cats and dogs. Why not Wookies?

BTW, have you calibrated your irony, facetiousness, and absurdity detectors lately?

You facetiously forget sarcasm v cynicism v irony.
It isn't hard to distinguish among these - just
generalize from one or two good examples of each.

(Calibration isomorphism detection begin NOW ).
