With a-social media working as they are, the "bubble" effect might be a cause for those coincidences. Social media "know" who their "users" associate with, if one or more do a search they will push ads to the whole "group".

But that isn't actually true. While it is true that you can't make that secure, you can make a charger secure. Step 1: Decide to not add the Internet. Step 2: Have just an on-off switch. Problem solved.
