The crystal ball says that at move 34, the urge to resign overwhelms the will to continue.

Yeah, but I bet you didn't count the fact that we will use 10-15 moves from the opening book , and also you chose a bad opening for black, as Gary said (and I continued to read about on the web since the game started), this most probably gets to a draw. As the position simplifies, we have more chances to hold the front line. You should have had "retry" that first move few times until the randomizing engine of SF should have chosen a more dynamic opening. We couldn't know what you did for the first move, anyhow.

I agree that we have chosen the opening well to maximise our chances against a computer (and I think it rather played into our hands: there are trickier variations of the Tarrasch French which it could have steered towards). But if we press for a win in a quiescent position, which this is and will likely remain so for a significant time, we have a clear recipe for losing. The key to playing this type of position is: play actively and keep control, meaning don't allow the opponent any initiative. If we get it right we could draw.

As for that word "forecast": it seems to be an interesting example of a verb whose simple past tense is regular ("the meteorological office forecasted sun but it rained") but whose participle is irregular ("the office has forecast sun", or "sun has been forecast").
