Is there any reason the precise minute information has been removed from post timestamps?

I also would prefer to have a time stamp instead of the time elapsed since the posting. In other words revert to the previous setting.

I like the date time stamps, and also the elapsed approximation as is.

I agree. While it is better than the previous monstrosity, it is still ugly as f**k. How about a true compromise: To each his own. Have a control panel option to select the format of timestamp to be displayed? Give me an option to continue with the original full date-time format, please!
