It was kind of inevitable. i'm surprised there has been almost no poaching for the past 9 months - ever since we crossed the M38 doublecheck mark.

I moved lower exponants to a slower computer sometimes ago. 8086411 should be finished by the end of this week, the 2 others by the end of this month (I think). I poach my sister computer but it's not running 24H/24H, so exponants are not finnished at regular time.So If you could prevent these exponants from beeing poached, it would be great. Thanks Ludovic |

A few of the above exponents have already been double-checked and matched, so the current assignment is (now) a redundant triple check. Obviously it makes no sense to poach and reassign these: 7336607 8304437 9000209 Quote:
I see what you mean: user CaptainEntropy maps to the name "snorton", and that user has a lot of results for programs J3 and E2. It seems a bit odd that those programs go to the trouble of contacting PrimeNet to reset their "date updated" but don't report a new iteration count while they're at it. Or am I missing something? |

I believe that as long as there is progress being made on the exponents, they shouldn't be poached.
If they get worked on to a point, then flatline on the graphs for months, that's another story - odds are that an exponent that's been sitting at 50% done for 6 months is on a dead and no longer accessable machine belonging to someone that's no longer active in GIMPS.... 7304699 would be a good example of an exponent that would be reasonably fair to poach, where the 3 lower exponents on your list have shown regular, if not consistant, progress over their life. Also, GP2, you may want to submit dummy results for the three exponents you listed above so that they do not get reassigned if and when they expire. The dummy result may even force the removal of the exponent form the worktodo.ini - in case the exponent is not the first in line to be completed and does not have significant iterations completed - which would prevent the user from wasting time on an already DCed exponent. |

The odd thing about 7304699 is that it's been flatlined since May 2002, yet the 'date updated' is Sep 4 2003.
It should expire within a day or two unless it gets updated again. Quote:
Slow and steady progress... just a little too slow. If we extrapolate, it will finish in 2012. This is undoubtedly an older version of the program. Will there even be an Entropia redirector for it to talk to in 2012? |

Yes, GP2, on a good machine.
