I am about to return to uni to do an MSc
.I want to be able to access my raspberry pi 2 from my pc/tablet while not at home. Normally I would use teamviewer to access my pc from outside my home. Unfortunately this doesn't work on arm yet. Within my home I have been using vnc but this doesn't seem to be an option for outside the home as my ISP has run out of ip addresses and is using a proxied ip address. This means I can't use a service such as https://www.noip.com/. Does anyone have any ideas? |

If no one else is willing, you might consider renting a server. An EC2 t1.micro would do the job; spot instances at ~ $0.004 an hour. With an elastic IP and a "Persistent Request" your instance would automatically restart with the same IP if you were outbid for a period of time. Would cost you about $3 a month. Alternatively, many low cost "shared" service providers offer SSH shell access for very low cost. I use 1and1 myself, but there are many, many such providers. Edit: Actually, I just looked... us-east-1e's t1.micro has been a solid $0.003 an hour for the last three months, so if you were to bid $0.004 you'd still only pay $0.003 and be virtually guaranteed of never being outbid. I "think" I have found a solution that will work.http://www.weaved.com/
I certainly appears to be working so far. After speaking to my dad who works for talktalk our isp it also seems that our ip address should not have been changing every few seconds like it was. It has seemed to settle down for the last few hours. Our internet was struggling yesterday full stop. We resynchronised many times and there was a period in the morning when it wouldn't work at all. I suspect it was about the worst day possible to try and get this working. |

You can also rent a $5 VPS from Digital Ocean that gives significantly more CPU power. |
