I agree with Nd4 (a bit late).
I think their next is Qd1. What are their other possibilities? ( I don't think they can go the 21. BxN NxQ 22. BxQ route.) |

Shame you didn't join in the discussion, but it's good that you're happy with the move.
I think their next is Qd1. What are their other possibilities?
See WMH's post #4.
( I don't think they can go the 21. BxN NxQ 22. BxQ route.)
Really? What have you seen? You need to tell us why you think that. (And please: do read the thread first to see what has already been said about that line.) Last fiddled with by Brian-E on 2015-06-22 at 07:53 |

If they 21. Bxd7, we should exchange queens by 21...Nxc2 22, Bxc8
We can then take 22...Nc2xRa1 lettig their B on d8 off the hook. Not I think 21. Bxd7 .. Qxd7 forgoing the Q exchange by letting their Q move 22. Qd1 So they'll probably move 21. Qd1. Looking for our reply. |

OK probably 21. Qd1 .. f5 as you both seem to think.
Then they 22. ?? I see no good move for them. |

I've re-looked at those posts. Am getting up to speed.
I'll accept that if they 21. Bxd7 then .. Nxc2 is premature because of the pawn .threat (which I missed). So 21. Bxd7 .. Qxd7 is better. OK. If 21. Qa4, then ..f5 looks right. If 21. Qd3 or Qd3 then what? I'll get back to this. |

My inclination at the moment (lazy perhaps, but also pragmatic because we all have limited time) is to wait and see what they play. Both 21.Qd1 Qa6!? and 21.Qd3 Ne5!? are complicated-looking responses (they may be blunders, I haven't looked very carefully) which we'll need to consider carefully. Another, simpler, way of breaking the pin after either move is 21...Qb7. But they are the ones who need to expend the effort examining those lines at the moment. I'll look when we see which 21st move they plump for.
