Also, what if 17. Bxa5 (instead of axb5), what's our follow up?

I think 18.Bxa5 is a better move than 18.Nxa5. See post #6 in this thread.

I don't think they can play that. They would lose two pieces for a rook after 17...Rxa5.

In this position as the minor pieces disappear the better off our position becomes.
