The bishop moves to b5 after d7
If I was them, after I'd watched Black spend three moves (...Qc7, ...Nb6 and ...Bd7) going for that set-up, I'd scupper the plan by playing the move a4. Alternatively they could wait till we've played ...Bb5 and then play a4 forcing either a retreat back to d7/e8, or an exchange of our bishop which we could have achieved with much less loss of time if we'd simply played ...a5 and ...Ba6. If not Qc7 and you expect a4 then how do fell about a5 to excange the bishop or e6 to bring the c8 bishop into play.

The first of those, ...a5 to exchange the bishop, is indeed what I most favour at the moment. ...e6 is a move we might have to play at some point, but reluctantly because it weakens d6 and possibly leaves the backward d pawn on a half-open file. I would suggest not now, in any case. If I haven't answered what you've just said, please rephrase it if possible. I may well be misunderstanding you. Thanks. |

I have no problem with a5 since the resulting end position could also arise from playing Qc7 first.
Any comments davar55? |

While we're waiting for anything which davar55 might add, let's just note that we have just over 24 hours now before our deadline to move. Will you be available to post the move when the time comes, team captain? In case you aren't, I'll be around until about 6 hours before the deadline and could post the move then.

I think you know I support a move you both agree on. |

Well, don't underestimate your potential for noticing something which the other team members miss. All players up to and including the world champion have blind spots sometimes, and our team will perform at its strongest if all of us look critically at what the others say. So far it's been good to see that you have no qualms about suggesting your own ideas, and I hope you continue to do so. |

Since we are now entering the first critical point in the game (the transition from opening to mid-game) all eyes on the board are needed to take advantage of any edge they mistaking give.
