Yes, that neat mate-in-2 following 57...h5 leaves the discussion about 58.Bf5+ immaterial, and it seems to leave only 57...Bb4 by elimination for which we haven't so far found an immediate win.

Do they have a direct immediate win after 57...Bb4? If not, I agree we should play that. If they do, however, leaving no move for us without an immediate clear win, and if their win after 57...Bb4 is prosaic, then I favour 57...h5 to let them play the neat rook pseudo-sacrifice (or hope for the off-chance that they miss it).

Ah, of course: 57...Bb4 58.Rh5+ is the same. David's neat mate-in-2 works whether we play ...h5 or not.

I think we should be moving quickly. As long as we are moving every day or 2 I don't think it is really an issue as there isn't many moves left.

Shall we each write down our vote now? Remembering, of course, that 57...Resigns is certainly one of the options on the ballot paper.

My vote is 57...Bb4.
