I guess we aren't too.
As far as I can see we have no other move to preserve the h pawn. If we let the pawn go the position is resignable, so 52...Kg5 seems forced. |

we could play: 52...Kg5 53.Rf7 Bf6
I am tired after a long day at work but not drunk. Been getting home and collapsing. Usually when coming in at that sort of time I would go straight on the computer. I have hardly touched my pc the last couple of weeks. 52...Kg5 53.Rf7 Bf6 54.Kf3 Ne4 55.h4+ Kh5 56.Rxf6 |
52...Kg5
53.Rf7 Ne6 54.Rf6+ Kg4
Assuming you meant Rf5+ 53.Rf7 Ne6 54.Rf5+ Kg4 55.Kf2 55...Ng7 56.Rb5 Kh3 57.Kg1 Bd4+ 58.Kh1 Kg4 59.Kg2 and mate is assured 55...Bd4 56.Kg2 mate is assured 55...Nd4 56.h3+ Kxh3 57.Rh5+ mate is assured I can also find mate for Nf4 but not yet for Be1+. Of course neither are good. I find it weird how I get into sessions of being able to think loads about a position fairly well. I am having to record where I am upto today but doing well. Keep finding escapes for me to refute. |

General remark:
The key question at the moment is surely: do we have any reasonable alternative to 52...Kg5? I would suggest not. In which case: isn't it up to them to work out their win after that? I know that we may be able to use the above analysis later, but who knows, maybe they're intending something other than 53.Rf7. If we have only one move, we should play it and see how they reply. |

Well, sorry if I stopped the chat.
Anyway, we're inside the 48 hour window again. Shall we all state our preferred move? Mine is 52...Kg5. |

You did not stop the chat -- I ran out of ideas for David to refute. I too think we have no choice other than Kg5.
