Why would you think that? The writing you propose is so totally trivial that it is pointless.
Why not just write: "Hey everyone! We have 1+1=2" ??????

May I also suggest that if one believes that one's work needs checking, then that
person should NOT be submitting Wiki articles?? He/she lacks the education and
expertise.

My work always needs checking.

Frequently said checking reveals no problems, but it needed checking all the same.

(Sometimes it does reveal problems.)

Checking for typos is a valuable service, IMO. For instance, it is not conventional to use two '?' characters at the end of an interrogative sentence.

Though I know what you mean and agree with the sentiment.

Asking for feedback is healthy. It means the requester is willing to put themselves out there, but aren't absolutely sure they got ___every exact detail___ correct.

Not everyone is omniscient Silverman.

(BTW, it would be nice if you didn't copy-and-paste your responses into the forum after (no doubt extensive) editing, and leave the data having CRs...? (That's meant to be funny, teasing, and serious, all at the same time.))

Last fiddled with by chalsall on 2014-10-24 at 16:59 Reason: Ooops.. Sorry. Missed a closing question mark in the second last sentence, and a closing curved bracket in the last. My Bad.

I don't think either of the two proposed additions is useful. Undoubtedly, the Wiki editors will tell you the same.

The first one is trivial and redundant.

The second table is redundant with the existing section. Note that is has nothing to do with Mersenne primes; why is this submitted to the "Talk:Mersenne_prime", hmm? Additionally, the sentiment that

is absolutely wrong (one only needs to know basic facts, e.g. period of power function (mod n)) and reinforces R.D.S. comment.

Everyone can edit Wikipedia, but if one lacks any expertise in what the write about the contribution will only exist for a fleeting moment.
