Waiting for work

For a couple of days now, one of the workers says: "No work to do at the present time. Waiting". What does it mean?

It means there's currently nothing for that worker in the worktodo.txt file, so it can't do anything.

First off, are you signed up with PrimeNet? Go to

Menu: Test > Configure PrimeNet

Make sure that the box at the top is checked. Unless you want your work reported as "Anonymous", enter a user name and computer name.

Check the Prime95 Preferences. Make sure you have a non-zero value in "Days of Work....." See attached.

Also, check prime.txt, in your Prime95 folder. See if there is a line-

NoMoreWork= (0 or 1)

If it is set to '1' Prime95 will not get new assignments. I don't think this line is in the default version of prime.txt, however.

What type of machine do you have (CPU, cores, GHz, memory, etc.)? What type of work do you have your workers set for?

What version of prime95 are you using? Can you ping mersenne.org?

My version is 27.9.

I went to Test -> PrimeNet... -> Use PrimeNet to get work and report results.

Turns out that the box was unchecked. I don't know when I did that.

Anyway I checked it and than the communication thread said: "Server assigned Lucas Lehmer primality test work". So everything is fine now.
