Maybe this is the answer. I see now 41..Ke7 42.Re6+ Kf7 43.Rd6 Ke7 44.Rd7+ Ke8. Are we okay here?
A possible line: 41...Ke7 42.Re6+ Kf7 43.Re2 Kg6 44.Be6 Nd4 45.Rxd2 Nxe6 46.Rd6 I am not sure which move I would go for currently. Probably one of the king moves not Nc5. Maybe Kf7 if I was pushed to decide. Feel free to continue thinking without me. If anything that gives me a higher chance of being involved in the next move although they have been moving very quick lately. |

Then if 43.Re2 they are not threatening the bishop fork so we can move our bishop. (Or if 43.Rd6 we still have 43...Ke7.) I hope you have a great time in France, David. I'm sure we'll all do our best to keep things under control till you're back. |

Don't think so, because of 44.Rd3 forking our pieces. However a strategy of harassing their rook with our king in particular keeping the king in striking distance of e7 to keep their rook from the d6 square, seems to me to hold on for the time being. On d6 the rook is still attacking our h pawn. If (41...Ke7 42.Re6+ Kf8 43.Rd6) 43...Ke7 the rook is forced to leave either the d file or the 6th rank. |

Oh yes, I missed that. Well, we still have 43...Bc1 instead of 43...Ke7? in that line. Then if 44.Rd3 Nd2 maybe we're still hanging on. Shall we all write down our favoured move now since we're down to our last +/- 36 hours? David's away now but said any of the king moves with a slight preference for 41...Kf7 if pressed. I too would support any of 41...Ke7/f7/f8 but have a slight preference for 41...Ke7 on the grounds that it holds off their reply Rd6 for an extra move and that should take us past David's holiday. |

My preference is for resignation
Maybe 45...Be3 hangs on in that line? Resignation might be on the cards soon, but shouldn't we let them demonstrate a clear win first? |
