Move 31

They've played their forced move Rxb8, and at first glance it seems to me that we also have only one reasonable move in reply: 31...Bxc3.

We cannot play 31...Kc7 32.Rxc8+ Nxc8 33.Ne8+ Kb6 34.Nd7+ and 35.Nxg7, nor can we play 31...Be5 32.Nf7+ Kc7 33.Rxc8+ Nxc8 34.Nxe5. So I cannot really see any constructive move for us except 31...Bxc3.

Does anyone see any other move which I've missed?

No, I can not see a better move. Bxc3 gets our Bishop out of any forks and it protects the pawn on the a file. Hopefully, we can maneuver our pieces and promote that pawn. :smile:

We are following the analysis I did in Move 29:

31. Rxb8 Bxc3
32. Nxe6+ Kd7
33. Nxc8 Kxe6
34. Rb6+ Ke5

I put quite a bit of time back then looking at this line and this was the best I could come up with. So I agree Bxc3 is our next move.

Let's see what David thinks.

Definitely Bxc3.
Sorry to take so long. Not had a pc for the last couple of days.
