Not sure - Ryan does his own thing. Maybe test sieving indicated a (quickly found?) GNFS poly was faster than SNFS? But I'm just speculating.

Ryan did run a lot of ECM prior to starting to sieve this number.

I'll notify him about this thread, in case he wishes to discuss his reasons for choosing to joust with this particular dragon.

I clearly forgot to post the reservation of C182_147_125 for NFS@home

I think yoyo@home has run a t60 on that number; polynomial selection is underway, but it'll probably be two to three months before the number gets to the top of the list and gets sieved.
