Default Move 27

It seems to me our best reply is 27...Kf8

I'm thinking Nxd4, but I want to think more about it....

Yes, what would White reply to Nxd4? It is certainly more aggressive and it might be worth sacrificing a knight at some stage in order to wipe out White's potential pawn promotions.

27...Nxd4 was indeed the general intention here, re-establishing material equality for the moment at least. I have to go to work now and need to look more closely later, but at first glance it's the only move to avoid a very obviously bad endgame.
Yes, what would White reply to Nxd4?
Their strongest continuation looks to me like 28.Nd6+ Kd8 29.Nxc8 Kxc8 30.Re1 Nb3 31.Nxb3 Rxb3 32.Rxe6 Kd8 (not 32...Kd7 33.Bh3) when they have an extra pawn but we are still fighting.

I think this is preferable to allowing them to keep their connected c and d pawns. So I currently still favour 27...Nxd4.

I have run through many scenarios of Nxd4 -- that is how I have done a lot of analysis -- and we have good outcomes. At the moment, I strongly favour Nxd4

What's the general feeling now, then? Rich said he wanted to think some more, but are others still thinking too?

My opinion is still that only 27...Nxd4 looks reasonable, so I'm not really working on the position myself.

Gents, I've looked during the week and I'm fine with Nxd4.
