In which case, I agree that 26...bxc3 27.Bxc3 Nxd4 (or 27.bxc3 Nxd4 and if 28.Nxa5 Ne2+) is the only reasonable way forward, and also fully adequate for us as far as I can see. We re-establish material equality, it seems, and the onus will be on them to prove that they have any advantage.

With about a day and a half still to go before we must move, I still advocate 26...bxc3. But there's still (just) time for further discussion.
