No other countries use the "like" and "totally" and the "X it the new Y". So, no, just your neck of the woods would say that.

Unforuntately, "foo is the new bar" is common in the UK too. It has been parodied for a couple of years now.

Have you considered the benefits of building your own lair?

The magazine Private Eye has been poking fun at overworked phrases for many years. Back in the 70s, for instance, a regular column was titled Including Ongoing situations, including meaningful and viable scenarios at this moment in time.

The Neophile column doesn't appear very often these days, it having been succeeded by DNA Samples. The first copy of the magazine that came to hand has 7 examples, including "Sustainability - is in the Scotch Whisky industry's DNA", by the Scotch Whisky Association, and "One of the key points of difference in our dough comes from the DNA of sourdough starter" found on the Crosstown Doughnuts web site.

DNA usually stands for "Do Not Attempt".
It is also dyslexic for "Non-Disclosure Agreement".

I might be going to Paris for two weeks for work. I've never been to Europe, so I'm excited if it happens.
