Yes, but the end of the connector does not get covered.

We sent Corsair an email a few days ago because the lettering on the "S" and "C" keys on our keyboard is starting to dissapear. They sent a prompt email back to let us know they are sending us a replacement set of keys. We continue to buy Corsair (and EVGA) products because the support is fantastic.

Max Sequential Read (CDM): Up to 130MB/s
Not bad! I have a Patriot 32 GB, USB 3 flash drive which also retracts, but does not cover itself. I suppose including a shutter of some sort would likely increase size and decrease mechanical reliability. Attached is an HDTune run on it, at a 512 KB block size. From a 64KB block size and up it is pretty stable at about 95 MB/s. ATTO Disk Benchmark pretty much agrees, with fairly good write speeds at larger block sizes.

The fastest I have ever benchmarked for USB 3 was about 170 MB/s, with a WD 4 TB Enterprise HDD in a cheap external case. I think that number probably came from ATTO, or one the other benchmark programs I have around.

Default Two things.

1a) I believe the Colonials celebrate an occasion they call "Thanksgiving" in the near future and
1b) they cosume turkey as part of the celebration so, accordingly
1c) I purchased a bottle of Wild Turkey today so that I may join in and express that there are no (or at least, very few) hard feelings.

2) I found this free food just outside the front gate a couple of days ago.

Current plan is to peel and core it tomorrow and turn it into a casserole.

Hen pheasant.

In perfect condition, apart from having a broken neck. Presumably it flew into a moving vehicle and bounced off before any more damage was done. The corpse was still slightly warm when I picked it up.

Once it had been peeled and dismantled, it was clear that it would have died from a ruptured femoral artery if the broken neck hadn't got it first. Massive blood clots inside the abominal cavity.

Now casseroling gently. Impressively big bird.

Paul

P.S. Apologies to those squeamish omnivores who prefer not to know about the reality of eating meat.

So? I'm fairly sure that I've posted evidence to that effect before.

I try to be an honest omnivore. If the road kill is apparently fit for human consumption, I don't see why I shouldn't first verify that observation and then go on to eat it after suitable cooking.

This particular recipe calls for red onion, garlic, juniper berries, black pepper, streaky bacon, lardons, rose wine for the casserole. Served with green lentils, broccoli and green beans.

Almost ready for serving now, I'll let you know how it turned out.

The cat thingies will get lightly roasted heart, liver and neck, together with what else is left after SWMBO and I have eaten what we want.

All sounds pretty good to me for what is basically free food which would otherwise be eaten by the local crows.

Delicious. SWMBO agrees.

Pheasants were introduced in the States, and are well established.
Quote:
The best-known is the common pheasant, which is widespread throughout the world in introduced feral populations and in farm operations.
When I was younger, I did a lot of driving on Midwest US country back roads. Pheasants could be a hazard, as they have a tendency to walk up to the side of a road in the brush or tall grass, and launch themselves to fly across. Perhaps they tended to hang out there and get startled by passing vehicles. In any case, it was fairly common for someone to "take a pheasant through the windscreen at speed."

This situation is suggested by your find. Excellent timing that it was still warm!

Pheasants were introduced to the UK too. They have absolutely no road-sense as far as I can tell. Many a time I've braked sharply to allow a pheasant to cross the road in front of me. If I'm in a car running into a pheasant is no big deal (for me, not the pheasant) but on the bike it could well be fatal for both of us.
