Appealing to the not yet removed more informative old exponent detail lookup might suggest that it was Prime95, but I'm not entirely sure about that.

Actually I was trying to delicately distinguish between factoring efforts prior to any public exposure with PrimeNet, from work submitted thereafter.
It wouldn't surprise me if such a pre-factoring exercise was conducted with entirely different tools.
Nevertheless, subsequent discussion has centered around work after the onset of public submissions.

I didn't see your reply till snme's precedent post popped. I understand you being a nice guy, hehe, but for me everybody is guilty unless proved otherwise So, are you sure he really owns this laptop? i.e are you sure this laptop is real? Did it actually report ANY good stuff? I could also create a phantom machine and improve my credit odds, it would even pass unobserved, beside of the mountain of THzDays turned in by my 580s. And if I am discovered, I could blame the new laptop. "I have to return it to vendor, it does not work well, sorry for the trouble caused"...

Prime95 used to have an AdvanceFactor entry available in the Worktodo.ini file. This would do what that type of factoring (low level far ahead of the 79.3M range.) PrimeNet would accept the info passed to it.

I've used it a few times....it is the only way to use Prime95 to CPU-TF numbers below 20,000.
And it is only available in Prime95 v24 (or older?).
It was surprisingly generous with credit.
I let an old space heater "Advance" the last few low exponents to 61 bits; this PC was good for 1.6GhzDay/Day with normal factoring but about twice that with AdvanceFactor of these.

It took about 45 days for 1277 60-61 bits.
