I was not actually aware that this astronaut was Bruce McCandless II. When I selected my avatar, I did a search for public domain images and did not pay much further attention after selecting one. It obviously corresponds to the one in the linked Wikipedia entry but mine has the Earth horizon halfway up the astronaut instead of his toes dangling over it. I kind of like that because it still shows the Earth even after clipping the image to a small size. At the time I was concerned that my avatar resembled a logon picture available for Windows users, but I am not sure where the Earth stood in the picture that they used.

Using artistic license and fictitious quantum legerdemain before the ban takes effect, I gratefully acknowledge Bruce McCandless' contribution to humanity's presence in space and congratulate him on a successful test of the Manned Maneuvering Unit (MMU) that allowed this eerie positioning of an untethered astronaut with the Earth in the background.

I further add that my legerdemain was so successful, I was able to apply it to prevent budgie banning even though I am on a yen symbol time-out. That is assuming that I was able to budge the budgie banner.
